Healthy pregnancies and healthy babies all begin with good nutrition. The staff and midwives of Morning Star Birth Center in Menomonie are here to help expecting mothers with prenatal nutrition. The best time to start nourishing your body for baby-building is actually months before conception. Nutritional deficiencies in pregnant women have been linked to many, many pregnancy-related illnesses, including morning sickness, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, toxemia and anemia.
At your initial prenatal visit, we will ask you to record everything that you eat for one week. At your next visit, your weekly food log will be reviewed to see what your nutritional strengths and weaknesses might be.
Throughout your prenatal period we will ask you about your diet and remind you of the importance of optimal nutrition during your pregnancy. The use of herbs and prenatal vitamins during pregnancy is discussed (many are safe and recommended, others should be completely avoided).
